Reconciliation

We acknowledge that we at the Head Office work on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's first peoples. First Nations peoples have never ceded sovereignty and remain strong in their enduring connection to land and culture. This land is, was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

Why do we think a RAP is important?

At Benchmarque Group and accessIQ, we believe having a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is crucial to our mission and values as an organisation. We recognise the ongoing impacts of colonisation and the subsequent government policies that have deeply affected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and how these actions continue to impact their cultural safety and well-being.

Our commitment to reconciliation has been a fundamental part of our organisation for many years. We take pride in our efforts to build meaningful relationships and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our journey towards reconciliation is one of our proudest accomplishments, reflecting our dedication to fostering a more inclusive and respectful society.

Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are dedicated to strengthening our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to empower their social, economic, and cultural well-being.

Our RAP is not just a document but a strategic framework that guides our actions and decisions. By integrating the principles of reconciliation into our daily operations, we strive to create an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel valued, respected, and supported. Our RAP is an essential part of our journey towards a more equitable and inclusive future.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

At Benchmarque Group, we are passionate about reconciliation. Our vision is to create an environment that recognises, embraces and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledge, and cultures.

Achieving this vision for reconciliation requires us to strive to achieve authentic change, to be active and respectful listeners, storytellers and leaders within our industry, and to be part of an ongoing conversation with our customers, our stakeholders, and our students about the importance of reconciliation and our commitment to this process.

Our commitment
To achieve this, Benchmarque Group and accessIQ commit to the following principles:

  • To demonstrate an understanding and respect for the traditions and perspectives of the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the country
  • To learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations and embed these learnings into our work
  • To deliver culturally appropriate and engaging course content by building genuine and respectful relationships with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations, peak bodies and communities.

What we are doing to achieve our commitments

Benchmarque Group and accessIQ are steadfast in our commitment to advancing the principles of our RAP through a series of targeted initiatives and collaborative efforts.

Central to this commitment is a deep understanding and respect for the traditions and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.

This is exemplified by our delivery of culturally tailored workshops, such as the Chronic Conditions of the Foot workshops, which were customised for health professionals in remote regions in collaboration with the Northern Territory PHN and the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (CAAC).

Learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations is integral to our approach. Our partnerships with institutions like the Batchelor Institute and the Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity Unit are illustrative of this commitment.

Delivering culturally appropriate and engaging course content is another cornerstone of our RAP commitments. Our extensive collaborations with organisations such as the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) Member Services and Primary Health Networks across Australia enable us to deliver courses that are not only informative but also culturally sensitive and engaging.

For instance, the positive feedback from the Kimberley workshops highlights the impact of our tailored content on local healthcare providers, enhancing their ability to deliver timely interventions.

We are committed

to proactively integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health content throughout our course product offerings.

Ensuring the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health content is an integral part of our educational framework rather than an afterthought. By systematically embedding culturally relevant material into all aspects of our curriculum, we ensure that the unique health perspectives and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are addressed comprehensively. This approach involves ongoing consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health experts and communities to inform course development, ensuring that content is both current and reflective of best practices in Indigenous health. By taking a proactive and intuitive stance, we aim to equip all healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver culturally competent care, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and effective healthcare system.

Moving from an Innovate to a Stretch RAP

As an organisation deeply committed to reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights and inclusion, we stand at a pivotal moment in our journey.

Our readiness to transition to a 'Stretch' RAP is rooted in our dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations.

Why Benchmarque

We recognise the need to amplify our efforts and take bold strides towards deeper reconciliation outcomes.

By transitioning to a 'Stretch' RAP, we affirm our commitment to:

  • Elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and perspectives within Benchmarque Group and accessIQ,
  • Implementing strategies to address systemic inequalities and barriers,
  • Deepening our understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and traditions,
  • Collaborating with Indigenous communities to co-create sustainable solutions, and;
  • Holding ourselves accountable for measurable progress and meaningful impact.
